The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam Holland contains a huge collection of
artwork by the Dutch master painter Vincent Van Gogh. Throughout his
life, the gifted Van Gogh suffered from episodes of mental illness and
depression. During one turbulent period, Van Gogh cut off one of his
ears and in 1890, he committed suicide.

Among the masterpieces that can be found at the Van Gogh museum in
Amsterdam Holland are the following:
- The Potato Eaters (1885)
- The Bedroom at Arles (1888)
- Vase with Sunflowers (1889)
- Wheatfield and Crows (1889)
American singer/songwriter Don McLean later wrote a beautiful song about
Van Gogh entitled "Vincent". The song makes references to one of Van
Gogh's most famous paintings, "Starry Starry Night" which
is currently on loan to the museum.
